My new 'ARAB' printing press is finally in my studio after weeks of working out the logistics of moving this 500kg beauty. I should have measured the door to my studio before I 'confirmed bid'. These truly are fantastic pieces of machinery, you can find out more about them here.
I am very sad to say that Printed Textiles at Middlesex University is being shut down. I have designed a tote bag to be given away to all past students who show up to the degree show. ImpressivePrintmaking, Letterpress and Graphic Design is an exploration of the interplay between current trends in graphic design and traditional handiwork such as letterpress printing, hand-cut linotype, chiselled woodblocks, and embossing. I am glad that the print I did for Venetia's coffee shop featured so prominently.
Driving through North London the other day I was saddened to see that the lovely TYPEWRITER signage on Alfoxton Avenue had finally been ripped down. I am so glad I made a screen print of it a couple of years ago (pictured above) and I hope I kept it alive in some small way. Available for £20 here.
